At Dakine, we are a small, ethical, and purpose-driven Maine Coon breeding program. We specialise exclusively in exotic Maine Coon cats, focusing on temperament, health, structure, and emotional companionship.

We no longer breed dogs or other cat breeds. Our program is intentionally limited, personal, and guided by purpose rather than profit.

We are a family-based program primarily located in Oregon, though we travel frequently due to our lifestyle and business commitments. Our passion for animals runs deep, with over 35 years of experience in animal care, breeding, genetics, health, and behavior.

My son shares my love for exotic cats, and we now co-manage our small Maine Coon program together, ensuring consistent hands-on care and socialization.

Our Philosophy

Dakine is not a commercial cattery. Every Maine Coon in our program is a full-time family member, either living with us or with trusted friends or relatives in carefully selected guardian homes.

• We do not sell to breeders or offer breeding rights

• No cats are ever kept in cages or traditional cattery settings

• Litters are only planned with clear purpose and intention

• We only keep the number of cats we can personally love and care for

This approach allows us to prioritize emotional wellness, confidence, and strong human bonds.

Ethical Breeding with Purpose

Our breeding program is guided by ethics, education, and intentional planning. We focus on:

All kittens are raised underfoot in home environments, receiving round-the-clock care and extensive socialization during critical developmental stages.

Kittens raised in enriched, calm home settings develop stronger confidence, better adaptability, and deeper bonds with their families—something we intentionally cultivate from birth.

Health Is Our Priority

With a background in veterinary medicine, I personally oversee all health-related care, including:

• Genetic screening and health testing

• Vaccinations and routine wellness care

• Strict standards for breeding suitability

We maintain zero tolerance for questionable health practices and only breed cats that meet high standards for both physical and emotional soundness.

Our Maine Coons are raised on high-quality diets with appropriate supplementation and preventative care to support long-term health.

Our Lifestyle & Environment

We travel full-time in a 45-foot RV throughout Oregon, Washington, California, Arizona, and Idaho. Our cats travel with us and remain integrated into our daily lives—they are never left behind or housed in kennels or cages.

Kitten pick-up locations are arranged based on our current location.

• In-person visits are available by appointment only

• Visits are conducted outdoors when possible for health and safety

• We do not allow visitors inside our RV or home to protect our animals from disease

• Virtual visits via Zoom or FaceTime are always welcome

Transparency is important to us, and we are happy to show how our cats are raised.

Past Experience & Community Support

Before a life-changing car accident, I was deeply involved in animal breeding and mentorship. Since then, my focus has shifted toward emotional support–oriented animals and ethical, small-scale breeding, using animals as a source of healing—for both myself and others.

I have also mentored fellow breeders in areas such as wellness management, placements, and responsible breeding practices.
